SECOND HAND MAGIC NOW AVAILABLE
BRASS NUT OFF STRING AND A BRASS CYLINDER SIMILAR TO A BILL TUBE
The brass nut off the string is a Davenport item and it comes in its original Demon brand box. I am not sure of the origin of the locking cylinder which has the same kind of mechanism as a bill tube. The cylinder can be locked with a small padlock (not supplied) and kept in a pocket. Quite a large object can be loaded into the cylinder and once loaded the base is pushed up and there seems no way into the cylinder other than through the lid at the top which can only be opened when the padlock is removed.. Both tricks are craftsman-made and of exceptional quality. £30.00 plus postage.
LIT CANDLE TO SILK
Neat item from the old days. Lit candle is placed in the nickle-plated tube and the caps placed on each end of the tube. The cap on one of the tube is taken off and the magician takes out a silk and the candle has vanished. The cap on the other end of the tube is taken off and the tube is seen to be completely empty. The tube stands 7.5 inches high. Not exactly something Marlo would have used but even though this dates back to the Hoffmann era I can still see that Fred Kaps would have been able to use it and fool with it too! £65 plus postage.
FOUR MAGICAL ITEMS INCLUDING KEN BROOKE’S SCREWY NUT BY ROY JOHNSON
The black item is a container to be pinned into one’s coat and it is designed to hold lit cigarettes. The red tube is the Screwy Nut by Roy Johnson released by Ken Brooke. The tray is designed for adding extra cards when the cards are tipped off the tray. There is a slot to hold the cards underneath the tray. The black cloth item is a TopIt ready to sew into your jacket. No instructions with anything other than the Screwy Nut. £30 plus postage.
Five Fabulous Magical Items … Including the Great Carmo Bead Mystery
This is a great selection from one of my boxes of older magical items. Here are the cards you can use for the Classic Supersonic effect. You will need to make a simple card display rack and you will need to know how the effect works! Here are the special fake cards. Plus|: Peter Kane’s Wild Card in Jumbo Cards complete with cards and described by Lewis Ganson and released by Supreme Magic. Plus a set of special cards for the Six Card Repeat trick. Each card has a pocket at the rear to hold more cards. No instruction but obvious. Plus George Blake’s Loopy Loop. The Endless Chain routine instructions only but you can use any simple small size chain. Plus and best of all something I drooled over when just ten years old and spending up to four hours at a time in Davenports (my father was very patient with me when I took four hours to spend just 7/6d!). The Great Carmo Bead Mystery. No instructions but can explain operation to the purchase. Absolutely ingenious and a wonderful effect. All these super items for £25 plus postage.
Nineteen Magical Odds and Ends
Two crazy compasses. Three small dice and three squashed dice and three matchox tricks (without instructions) seven casino dice which are perfect for die stacking plus a little round wooden Okito box. £15.00 plus post.
Set of Five Colour Changing Penknives
Five colour changing penknives. Two are blue/white and one is white/white and the other two are yellow/white and red/white. I have never seen a set of knives like this as the blades can not be opened and these knives have been purpose made. I would think that they were probably made quite a while ago. They handle well and are nicely balanced. £25 plus postage
Eddy Taytelbaum Treasures
Eddy Taytelbaum’s Dizzy Dominoes
Offers invited for this highly valuable and superbly made Taytelbaum item.
Eddie Taytelbaum’s Die-Foolery
There is a suggestion that Die-Foolery is not by Taytelbaum but another expert does not agree and thinks it is definitely by Taytelbaum. In any caset the workmanship is outstanding. Offers invited for this.
Jacob’s Ladder by Eddie Taytelbaum
Little blocks with silk ribbon hinges. Block tumble downwards when held up by one end. Offers invited.
Can you help me to identify this please?
This was given to me by an old friend who died years ago and he was an avid collector of all the Ken Brooke items he could find. I am really very certain that this came with some small dice and perhaps it was something to do with Peter Kane. Do you know what it is and if it was a Ken Brooke item? Thanks for your help.
ANTIQUE METAL PUZZLES
These are really old metal puzzles probably described in Hoffmann’s Puzzles Old and New. There are five different puzzles and one duplicate. These are usually found at antique fairs and snapped up as soon as they are on offer. £60 plus postage.
This effect is not complete with instructions but anyone
who is familiar with Charles Gaucci’s divination
effects will know exactly what it is and how to use it. I know
what it is roughly but certainly do not wish to expose the effect.
It is used to divine in which hand a spectator is holding a coin or similar
size object. £35 plus postage.
BOB OSTIN’S
BEAM SHOT FROM KEN BROOKE
This now
classic effect comes complete with the very special pack of cards originally
supplied. The torch has a note in the box it comes in saying that the
batteries leaked and it needs to have the contacts cleaning up before use.
I have looked and that seems to be a relatively easy task. Ken
Brooke’s instructions are comprehensive and if the torch didn’t need work on
it the price of this would be at least double. Price is £15
plus postage.
