He started his career by interviewing outstanding magicians on audiocassettes and eventually built up a range of around 100 Magicassetes. These won him the first P.T.Barnum Award in 1978 and the award was presented that year at the Magic Collectors Association Weekend in Chicago. In March 2000 Martin was honoured by The Academy of Magical Arts in Hollywood with a Special Fellowship for his work with audio recordings. Martin was the first person to release a range of audio recordings of magicians, he was the first person to produce magical videocassettes and he was the first to produce magical audio recordings on CDs. For many years Martin was the leading importer in England of magical effects and books from the USA, Europe and Japan. He studied virtually every single effect available commercially and honed down his list to the very best items obtainable. He has a vast customer base of clients who have become long term friends. Some years ago he ceased importing effects from around the world and has been concentrating on producing his own range of magical effects, recordings and books. Martin also runs a busy publishing company publishing a range of general books and also a range of over 30 Sherlock Holmes books. Martin lives and works in Notting Hill in London and all of his stock is stored in the warehouse of a magic dealer friend in Sheffield. The majority of items ordered are shipped from the Sheffield warehouse.
There is hardly a magic personality in the world that has not purchased something from Martin over the years. Tommy Cooper, Paul Daniels, Graham Jolley, Harry Anderson, Billy McComb, Terry Seabrooke, Terri Rogers, Kreskin, David Copperfield and so many more have purchased and used material from Martin Breese. |
