Miracle Signed
Card in Envelope
by Roger Curzon

Most
magic dealers who also produce routines and effects, nurture and cultivate
a little coterie of clever people who invent and create magic. I have a
number of highly talented people who work with me and my friend Russell
Hall who runs Magick Enterprises has a number of talented people who work
with him as well.
Roger
Curzon can often be found at Magick Enterprises in Sheffield and last time
I paid a visit there he was doing a number of new effects in the demo area
of Russell's Magic Studio. Roger Curzon is a highly creative inventor and
an excellent performer. He has created many items that are well known but
one of the best is this amazing Miracle Signed Card in Envelope.
This is
the effect: The magician shows a card inside a window envelope which has
been placed there "in case of an emergency." The envelope is placed aside,
but in full view of the audience. A card is selected and signed and
returned to the pack. The magician has some difficulty in locating the
card, so finally he draws attention to the card in the envelope. It can
still be seen clearly through the window of the envelope. The card is
visibly removed from the envelope and, believe it or not, turns out to be
the signed selection.
Remember:
-
The
envelope is in full view all the time.
-
At no
time does the performer go near the envelope until the card therein is
taken out.
-
No
palming or difficult sleights are involved.
-
All
that is required is a little handling practice.
When I
got a sample of this item I thought that it was a nicely produced book but
when I opened the cover of the book I realised that all the props needed
are supplied as well. In effect what looks like a book is really the
instructions and there are 45 pages A4 sized and neatly comb-bound. The
book explains the basic effect and handling and then provides a whole host
of ideas and alternative routines by some great names in magic: Wayne
Dobson, Peter Duffie, Mike Rogers, Stephen Tucker and Paul Wilson.
This is
a miracle effect at a more than reasonable price. Just £15.00 plus
postage but it could have easily have been £37.50 or even more.
