THE SPIRIT NUT AND BOLT MIRACLE

Just recently a magic inventor released a version of this effect (the spinning nut on bolt) and it was priced at several hundred dollars. Rightly so as what was supplied to the magician cost a great deal to manufacture. Now some other clever thinker has come up with exactly the same effect but using a completely different method to achieve the outcome. The new method is very simple indeed and does not cost the earth. This is not my effect but something I was offered and liked immediately I opened the parcel.

This is the effect: The magician hands a spectator a nut and a long bolt. The helper is asked to put the nut on the bolt and to turn it a few times so that it is clearly screwed on to the bolt. The magician holds the examined nut and bolt in his hand and right in front of the spectator's eyes the bolt begins to turn by itself. It can turn very fast or slowly - as the magician wishes. Finally the nut spins itself off the bolt and drops into the spectator's outstretched palm. Once again the nut and bolt can be examined and at the same time the performer shows that his hands are completely empty.

The effect was supplied with instructions in a foreign language but the latest version which has just arrived has the instructions translated into English I am glad to say. The effect is not just baffling for the audience but intriguing for the performer as well as the effect is so magical to watch. How can one make a nut spin fast or slow on a bolt? It is a real mystery and an excellent and baffling effect. There are no magnets or threads and nothing is attached to the nut and bolt!
